B1.5 and B1.6 Lesson 4 The Carbon Cycle

It’s not just nutrients that get recycled. Carbon plays a huge role in the circle of life. Life on Earth is said to be carbon based. This means that the molecule that make us up contain lots of carbon. We also get our energy from carbon based molecules. This is easy for animals because we can eat sugar which is FILLED with carbon. But what about plants? Plants can’t eat and sugar can’t be taken up by roots. Plant get all of their carbon from carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which they convert to sugar using sunlight in photosynthesis. Respiration then releases this energy and puts Carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere.  Just another CIIIIIIIRCCCCCLLLLLE OF LIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFEEEEEEE.
