Dearest Year 8,
I want you to think about everything we use electricity for. Not just the X boxes and computers we’re so attached to but the boilers, lighting, motors and alarms that keep us alive, as well.
Imagine you woke up this morning and electricity could no longer be generated and all the batteries had completely drained. What would your day be like? How would we do things differently?
I’d like you to write a diary entry in size 14 font on your computer and fill up a whole page. Print it out or do it in your online Student Journal and let me see it!
Due Wednesday 21st January
Good luck!
Can’t wait to read them.
Santa’s
gaviscon
First of all what is heart burn? It’s when there is too much acid in
your stomach so it starts to rise up to the level of your heart so that gives you a lot of pain. Also
So acid on the ph would be from 1-6. So Santa would eat too many mince pies so he would get heartburn or indigestion so for him to stay safe he would keep some gaviscon on his sleigh so he could jump back into the Christmas spirit .
The gaviscon tablets would dissolve and neutralize the pain and the chemicals will go away. So if Santa doesn’t complain Rudolf won’t get annoyed. And you know the rain deers are fuelled by carrots and if they get heart burn Santa can share his gaviscon with the deers. Santa will have to wait 32 hours. Before he took gaviscon he could have spat in a test tube and use a universal indicator which would turn up in red
Good to see you caught up on this Samy. I’ll print it and get it to your exercise book!
electricity home learning
first of all if it was Monday i would wake up at about mid day because my alarm would have no power. So when I wake up i would have to look at the sun because the sun has got no batteries. when i make my breakfast i would have to have it cold because the microwave would be useless (again no batteries). so when i get to my bus stop i will not know how long till the bus comes. when i am on the bus i will be freezing, this reason is that there will be no heating. the time i get to school it would have been finished so i walk home and read books for the rest of the day
Hi Samy,
WWW – Excellent use of applications of electricity to illustrate the difficulties we might face.
EBI- What types of things do we use electricity for in hospitals or schools? Might you see some unsual news stories that you could add?
Literacy- There are many instances of missed capital letters in here. Please check the start of your sentences and proper nouns.
Reply to my comment with your response.
This is montell.
If I never had electricity I wouldn’t be able to watch when I am going to my bed. I would be waking up to go to school. I wouldn’t even be able to shower because my boiler would be working. I might not be able to get to school because the buses wouldn’t be able to run, people wouldn’t be able to use there phone because they wouldn’t have been able to change it the night before so it will be dead. Another worst thing for hospitals they wouldn’t be able to see where there going they might be able to help some people in the hospital, some of the machine might be working so the hospital would be down. Lots people wouldn’t even be able to get to work. Even if they was able to get to work they will be working in total darkness and that’s all the things that wouldn’t happen if there’s no electricity.
HOPE U ENJOY IT
